The Diamond Bar Friends of the Library is a non-profit, all-volunteer community service group dedicated to supporting the Diamond Bar Library, improving literacy and encouraging the love of reading. The Friends are a California registered non-profit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
We are a dynamic group of volunteers. We have projects and activities all year long, so please contact us to participate!

Four Seasons Book Discussion
As part of Read Together Diamond Bar, the Friends will host a book discussion of Crying in H Mart at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2004 at the Diamond Bar Library Windmill Room. All are invited to attend.

Mark your calendars for the 30th Annual Wine Soiree on Sunday, October 6, 2024 for our second year at the Diamond Bar Library. Tickets are $75 and include a commemorative wine glass. For more event information go here: Wine Soiree
READ TOGETHER DIAMOND BAR 2024
The RTDB Friends’ committee and the Diamond Bar Library are planning a month of literary festivities around the 2024 book picks to take place from April 3 to April 27. You will discover many interesting activities for adults, teens, and children at the Diamond Bar Library here: https://lacountylibrary.org/location/diamond-bar-library/
The closing event will be Saturday, April 27 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. where we will present awards to the three teen authors of “How a Book Changed My Life Student Essay Contest”. For more information on the essay contest, go here.
At the closing event, author Jessica Kim will speak about how she became an author, and her inspiration for Stand Up, Yumi Chung! This will be an inspiring afternoon so mark your calendars and join us.

The RTDB 2024 book selections:
Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner will be the adult book selection. Zauner’s candid coming-of-age story speaks of growing apart from, and then back together with her Korean identity, and of forging her own path in the wake of devastating loss. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up Asian American, straining to meet her mother’s expectations, moving across the country, and returning home to reckon with grief.
The teen book is Family Style by Thien Pham. This is a moving young adult graphic memoir about a Vietnamese immigrant boy’s search for belonging in America.
Stand Up, Yumi Chung! by Jessica Kim is a heartfelt story all about family and self-discovery for ages nine to twelve. As an aspiring comedian, Yumi fears there isn’t enough room on stage for her own experiences and stories to shine—because when all is said and done, comedy is really just another form of storytelling.
Ramen for Everyone by Patricia Tanumihardja is an adorable picture book for young children. Hiro loves ramen. Every Sunday, Hiro’s dad makes delicious, perfect ramen for dinner using a recipe passed down from his dad. Hiro then proceeds to discover that every person’s perfect bowl of ramen is unique.

On Sunday, May 19 from 1-4 PM we are holding a Brushes N’ Vino Paint Party at the Heritage Park Community Center! For $50 you get 2 glasses of wine, a commemorative wine glass, and your painting on canvas. Tickets are available at the Friends’ bookstore inside the Diamond Bar Library or by calling Susan Pantages at 951-318-3340 or Rosette Clippinger at 909-525-8828. Event for adults only.

Hardcovers and softcovers (trade books) are $1 each, and paperbacks are 2 for $1, or 50 cents each. (Excludes all recently published books.)
Come check out our expanded $2-a-bag book section! You can fill up a bag of books for just $2.
We also have specially priced book sets at the bookstore that make great gifts or collectors’ items.
Look for the Opportunity Basket in the Bookstore made by Friends’ board member MaryKay Nichols. Each customer is entitled to one free ticket per transaction.
Each book and item sold in the bookstore supports the Diamond Bar Library to enlarge their reading and media collections.

Bookstore Donation Guidelines
While we appreciate the generous donations given to us by community members, we request that you follow the below guidelines before donating to be considerate of our volunteers’ time spent sorting donations.
We are looking for new or gently used books in almost new to fair condition.
We don’t accept:
-Outdated (10+ years) travel guides and non-fiction reference books
-Computer books and textbooks
-VHS and cassette tapes
-Magazines and encyclopedias
-Torn, yellow, bug-infested, and water damaged books
